My aim is to spend approx. 3 weeks in Okinawa, making daily video recordings in and around the market, editing them on location, and presenting them in form of an installation inside the market.
The installation will be a looping video, consisting of several short episodes, about 2 min. in length each. Every day during the project, I will add at least one episode to the video loop, created from the material that I filmed the previous day, so that the duration of the loop will grow continuously.
The end of my project will be marked by a final screening of the finished film, converting a part of the market into a public cinema for this event. During the exhibition phase of WANAKIO, the film will be screened again as an installation inside the market, accompanied by other materials such as sketches, writings and photographs to serve as a kind of “making of” and to present an insight into the artistic process.
