The
Sakaemachi ryukyu puppet was inspired by
an old traditional ryukyu puppet found in
the recycle shop inside Sakaemachi market
square. How would such a traditional puppet
look like, if it should refer to nowaday's
ryukyu inhabitants? I want to create a new
ryukyu puppet which mirrors the life inside
the market square and offers another point
of view on the common people inside Sakaemachi.
The comedy is based on the the insights i will
gain through creating the Sakaemachi ryukyu
puppet. I will use traditional comedy techniques
to express contemporary ryukyu people's life.
The people from Sakaemachi will enjoy episodes
from manners and methods they invented themselves
and outsiders will understand the qualities
of the market square.
